Pass Routes

Skeleton itineraries you can tighten or stretch — built around place rhythm, not a rigid checklist of every monument in Egypt.

How routes work

Choose a spine, then add breathing room

Each Pass Route names a duration, a geographic arc, and a daily intent. Swap hotels, skip one tomb, or add a reef day — the structure still holds.

First trip

Start with the 8-day Plateau to Temple Arc. It covers Giza and Luxor without forcing Aswan or the coast into a sprint.

More time

The 12-day River & Reef Passage adds Aswan and a coastal reset — ideal when you want history and recovery in one journey.

Route 01 · 8 days

Plateau to Temple Arc

Cairo & Giza foundations, then Luxor’s east and west banks with one deliberate recovery afternoon by the Nile.

Best for first-timersMonument focusModerate pace
Giza plateau monuments

Day 1 — Arrive Cairo

Settle, light Nile-side walk if energy allows. No monuments required on arrival day.

Day 2 — Giza Plateau

Early start for pyramids and Sphinx. Afternoon rest. Optional short museum window only if you still feel sharp.

Day 3 — Museum & historic Cairo

One major museum block, then shaded lanes or a market stroll. Evening free.

Day 4 — Transfer to Luxor

Morning flight or overnight train. Afternoon settle; Luxor Temple at blue hour if timing works.

Day 5 — Karnak & east bank

Karnak in the morning. Midday shade. Soft evening with no further tickets.

Day 6 — West bank

Hatshepsut terraces and two or three Valley tombs. Return by mid-afternoon heat.

Day 7 — Nile breathing day

Felucca hour, optional quieter site, café time. Protect this day — it makes the temples memorable.

Day 8 — Depart

Buffer morning for delays. Fly via Cairo or continue south if extending.

Route 02 · 12 days

River & Reef Passage

Monuments south to Aswan, then a coastal reset along the Red Sea for reefs, rest, and desert-edge sunsets.

History + coastBest with 12+ daysBalanced energy
1–3

Cairo & Giza

Plateau dawn, museum depth, one historic neighborhood evening. Same spine as Route 01, slightly tighter.

4–7

Luxor core

East and west banks with a Nile evening. Skip the urge to add every side temple.

8–9

Aswan & Philae

River light, Philae, optional Abu Simbel day if stamina remains. Nubian dinner if invited into a local evening.

10–12

Red Sea buffer

Snorkel or dive, desert-edge sunset, sleep. Optional Sinai hop only if you already know the coast well.

Who it suits

Travelers who want both sandstone history and blue recovery — couples, friends, and curious first-timers with vacation length to spare.

Watch-outs

Do not schedule Abu Simbel and a long coast transfer on the same exhausted day. Protect sleep between arcs.

Route 03 · 5 days

Mediterranean Prelude

Alexandria’s seafront libraries and cafés, with an optional return via Cairo museums if time allows.

Day 1: Arrive Cairo or Alexandria directly. If via Cairo, transfer north the same afternoon only if flights cooperate.

Day 2–3: Corniche walks, cultural shoreline, library/museum blocks, café afternoons. Keep evenings open to the Mediterranean pace.

Day 4: Optional Cairo museum day on return — or a second Alexandria deep-dive if the coast has you.

Day 5: Depart. This route is a prelude or a short standalone, not a full historic circuit.

Routes FAQ

Can you customize a Pass Route for our group?

Yes. Send dates, pace, and must-see places via Contact. We reply with a sketched outline — clarity first, no pressure.

Should we cruise the Nile or take trains/flights?

Cruises shine between Luxor and Aswan when you want the river as a chapter. Trains and flights suit tighter schedules. Mixed approaches work well.

What if we only have a long weekend?

Use Mediterranean Prelude or a compressed Cairo–Giza focus. Save Luxor for when you can give it three honest nights.
